Computer

The Computer department is part of the Jamia's modern-education programme: alongside the religious syllabus, students learn essential computer skills so that graduates can serve the faith, and manage their own affairs, with today's tools.

In the syllabus of academic year 1447 AH, Computer is a regular subject in Urdu Maulvi 3rd, Aalim 1st, Aalim 2nd and Fazil 1st. In each of these classes it is examined in an annual paper of 100 marks, and it sits next to English and Kannada as the Jamia's modern-education component.

Tailoring

Alongside religious education, the Jamia runs a Tailoring class that teaches students a respectable trade, so that graduates can earn a lawful living and stand on their own feet. Under an experienced tailoring teacher, students are trained hands-on in taking measurements, cutting cloth and stitching garments.

In academic year 1447 AH the class runs in two batches: the first meets on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and the second on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 2:45 to 4:00 in the afternoon, so there is a class every day of the week except Friday. Twenty-three students are currently enrolled, from Maulvi 1st and 2nd and Urdu Maulvi 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Attendance at every session is recorded in the Jamia's computerised system, and both batches have met regularly since August 2026.

English, Kannada and Maths

Under the modern-education programme English is taught from the first Nazira class (Tahtaniya) right up to Fazeelat: Basic English in Tahtaniya, the English Reader through Wustaniya, Fauqaniya and the Maulvi classes, and Spoken English in Fazil 2nd and the Final (Kamil-ul-Hadith) year. Kannada, with the textbooks Kalli Kannada and Tali Kannada, runs through the Nazira and Maulvi classes, so that graduates can communicate effectively in their home state of Karnataka and beyond.

Library

The Darul Mutala'a, the Jamia's library, holds 2,448 titles in 3,749 volumes: more than 8,000 copies, arranged on 33 shelves. Most of the collection is in Urdu (1,546 titles) and Arabic (806 titles), with books in Persian, English and Hindi as well, by more than 1,200 authors from over 800 publishers.

The books are arranged by subject: Seerah (318 titles), Fiqh (212), Hadith (208), beliefs (Aqaid, 170), Tasawwuf (151), Tafsir (116), Arabic syntax and morphology, Arabic and Persian literature, principles of Fiqh, rhetoric, logic, history, fatawa and poetry. Worn books are rebound regularly: 459 went for binding in 2025 alone.

Lending is computerised: every copy carries its own number, scanned when a book is issued and when it comes back. Students of Aalimiyat, Fazeelat and Urdu Maulviyat borrow books against a refundable deposit, and teachers and staff use the library too. More than 6,500 books have been lent since 2021; in 2025 alone, 107 students and 15 members of staff borrowed 1,225 books.

Syllabus

An overview of what each department teaches in academic year 1447 AH

The Nazira department is the Jamia's foundation stage, where children learn to recite the Holy Quran correctly alongside basic Islamic and modern education. The three-year course has three classes, Tahtaniya, Ustaniya and Fauqaniya, each divided into three sections (Alif, Ba, Jeem) so that every student receives individual attention.

Tahtaniya begins with the letters and vowel marks through Yassarnal Quran, while Ustaniya and Fauqaniya complete fluent recitation of the whole Quran. Alongside, students study Urdu literature (Tameer-e-Adab), daily supplications (Gulshan-e-Wazaif), mathematics (Gulshan-e-Riyazi), English (Basic English and the English Reader) and the Kannada language (Kalli Kannada).

Each class is assessed out of 500 marks across half-yearly and annual examinations. Graduates of Fauqaniya move on to the Hifz department or to Urdu Maulviyat.

Tahtaniya

Subjects: Recitation of Quran، Urdu Literature، Supplications، Mathematics، English، Kannada

Ustaniya

Subjects: Quran، Urdu Literature، Supplications، Mathematics، English، Kannada

Fauqaniya

In the Hifz department students memorise the entire Holy Quran with Tajweed. It consists of a single class divided into five sections (Alif to Ha), each supervised by a Hafiz teacher who follows the daily routine of new lesson (sabaq), recent revision (sabqi) and full revision (manzil).

The syllabus centres on the Quran itself: memorising new juz, revising earlier ones and correcting articulation. Progress is examined in half-yearly and annual assessments, where the memorised portion and fluency are marked out of 100.

The journey usually takes three to four years. After completing Hifz, the Huffaz join Urdu Maulviyat or Dars-e-Nizami (Aalimiyat) to continue their religious studies.

Hifz

Subjects: Hifz

Urdu Maulviyat is a three-year Urdu-medium course designed especially for Huffaz and for students who wish to complete the essentials of religious education in Urdu. It has three classes, Urdu Maulvi 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with one section each.

The first year covers the Quran with Tajweed (Ma'rifat-ut-Tajweed), jurisprudence (Anwaar-e-Shariat), the biography of the Prophet (Seerat-e-Mustafa), Urdu literature, mathematics, English and Kannada. The second year adds Tafsir (Sirat-ul-Jinaan), Hadith (Jawahir-ul-Hadith, Anwar-ul-Hadith), Fiqh (Qanoon-e-Shariat), Quranic sciences (Masail-ul-Quran), Tasawwuf (Mukhtasar Minhaj-ul-Abideen) and the life of Ala Hazrat. The third year studies Talkhees Bukhari Shareef, Mirat-ul-Manajeeh, Bahar-e-Shariat, Khazain-ul-Irfan, Ja-al-Haq, the lives of the Rightly Guided Caliphs and computer skills.
